Tier I AAA Travel Program

Group 219

The Jr. Amerks Tier I AAA program provides elite young athletes from 8U to 18U with the tools, resources, and competition needed to take their game to the next level. As a premier Tier I organization, we offer players access to the highest levels of competition, expert coaching, and comprehensive development opportunities. Our AAA teams are designed to foster growth and advancement, preparing players for success in juniors, college, and beyond. From skill development and strength training to exposure at top showcases and tournaments, our program equips players with everything they need to achieve their hockey aspirations.

Practice with a purpose, play with a passion

skills that translate to the next level

Our AAA player development model is focused on long-term growth, not short-term results. Training is age-appropriate and designed to build a strong foundation, ensuring player development is never sacrificed in pursuit of wins at younger ages.

We emphasize core skills—skating, speed and agility, puck control, shooting, and passing—taught through structured systems that progress with each player’s stage of development. This approach prepares athletes to compete at higher levels as they mature.

Creativity and hockey sense are developed through high-tempo drills and small-area games that challenge decision-making and translate directly to game situations. Supported by partnerships with top training organizations, our program provides the resources players need to reach their long-term potential.

Top flight competition

Our AAA teams compete against top programs across the United States and Canada through thoughtfully built schedules that emphasize development and meaningful exposure. Events and opponents are selected with purpose—not simply for travel—ensuring the right level of competition and strong value for players and families.

Teams regularly face nationally ranked opponents, qualify for New York State championship play, and participate in premier events such as the USHL American Cup and the CCM World Invite in Toronto. This balanced approach supports player growth, competitive readiness, and long-term advancement.

Turning Dreams into Achievements

advancement guidance

We support our players and their families as they navigate the hockey landscape and explore pathways in prep school, junior hockey, and college hockey. Through the collective experience, relationships, and firsthand knowledge of our coaches and organizational leaders, players receive practical guidance rooted in a deep understanding of the process. While this is not a formal advisory program, our staff is committed to sharing insight, perspective, and connections to help families make informed decisions and support each player’s individual goals within the game.

EXPOSURE opportunities

We position our AAA players in the right environments to support long-term development and advancement. Each year, players are selected to attend state and national development camps through New York State Amateur Hockey and USA Hockey. These well-respected events provide high-quality instruction and meaningful exposure to junior, college, and professional coaches and scouts, ensuring players are evaluated in settings that matter.

Player Development

Dedicated to development

We put player development first. Our on-ice skill development and off-ice training programs are designed to maximize the potential of every player regardless of their age, team, or beginning skill level.

spring & summer programs

We offer spring and summer training for players who enjoy playing year-round. After tryouts in March and April, our Upstate Kings teams compete in top events like the Battle of Buffalo and Chowder Cup. Participation is encouraged but not required, as we understand many players are active in other sports like baseball and lacrosse.

For those seeking additional development, we offer summer training through the Rochester Ice Center Academy and the Total Hockey Training (THT) Summer Development Program. THT is designed for motivated players, featuring high-intensity sessions focused on biomechanically sound skating, shooting, passing, and puck control.

As summer progresses, compete drills and small-area games help players apply their skills in game-like situations. This elite program helps players advance and prepare for the season ahead.
