Intro to Hockey Director

The Jr. Amerks are looking for a Director of Intro to Hockey to lead the organization and administration of one of our most important programs.
Intro to Hockey welcomes nearly 100 young players each season, many experiencing organized hockey for the very first time. The Director helps make that first experience a great one by keeping the program organized, families informed, and everything behind the scenes running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall administration and coordination of the program.
- Identify parent managers to lead coordination of the Level I and Level II programs
- Serve as the primary contact for Intro families and provide clear, timely communication throughout the season.
- Coordinate player groups, schedules, uniforms, equipment needs, coaches, volunteers, and other program logistics.
- Be a regular presence at Wednesday and Saturday sessions at Rochester Ice Center from October through February.
- Coordinate jamborees and other special activities.
- Support player recruitment and help achieve program enrollment goals.
- Work closely with Jr. Amerks leadership and other volunteers to plan for the season, solve problems, and continually improve the program.
Our coaching staff handles the on-ice instruction, so this is not a coaching position. Some hockey background is preferred, but strong organization, communication, customer service, and follow-through are most important.
We’re looking for someone who wants to take ownership of the program and help it grow and improve. Ideally, this person is interested in serving in the role for at least two seasons.
For many kids, Intro to Hockey is where their hockey journey begins. This role helps make sure it starts off right.
Part-Time Goalie Clinic Shooters
The Jr. Amerks are seeking experienced hockey players to serve as paid shooters during goalie development clinics led by New Edge School of Goaltending. Ideal for high school and college players, shooters will provide controlled, age-appropriate shots during drills and stations. Clinics run approximately every other week from September through February.
Equipment Manager

The Jr. Amerks are looking for a reliable, organized person to take ownership of our equipment and supplies and help keep our 65+ teams ready to go. This is a flexible volunteer role with most of the activity in September/October and February/March. It’s generally just a few hours per week during those busy times, with very little to do from November through January.
What you’ll help with:
- Organize and hand out pucks, puck bags, medical kits, helmet decals, and other supplies to our coaches.
- Handle our Intro to Hockey loaner equipment bags — take requests, hand out equipment, track it, collect it in the spring, and make sure everything is clean, complete, and ready for next season.
- Keep our mite goalie gear and other equipment organized.
- Order replacement equipment and supplies when needed.
- Coordinate with the Pro Shop on uniforms and apparel.
- Be a responsive, helpful point of contact for coaches and families.
We’re looking for someone who is friendly, responsive, self-reliant, and gets things done. We don't want someone who needs to wait for the Board to tell them what to do — we want someone who will make the role their own.
It’s a small time commitment, but an important job — especially when you're helping a brand-new hockey player get their first bag of equipment and onto the ice.

Coaches also have the opportunity to work closely with and be mentored by members of our Hockey Operations team, which includes former professional and college players and coaches with decades of experience in player development and coaching. Our hockey leadership team has an extensive network of relationships throughout junior, college, and professional hockey, providing a great environment for coaches who want to learn, develop, and stay connected to the game.
