Boston Fleet Select Former Jr. Amerks Standout Haley Winn with 2nd Overall Pick in 2025 PWHL Draft

Boston, MA – June 24, 2025 — The Boston Fleet added elite talent to their blue line Tuesday night, selecting defenseman Haley Winn with the second overall pick in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft.

Winn, widely regarded as the top defensive prospect in this year’s draft class, recently completed a stellar collegiate career at Clarkson University, where she tallied 14 goals and 32 assists over 38 games in her senior season. Her dominant play earned her multiple honors, including ECAC Player of the Year, ECAC Defender of the Year, and a spot on the All-ECAC First Team. She was previously recognized as ECAC Rookie of the Month in November 2021.

At just 21 years old, Winn brings a combination of speed, vision, and defensive reliability that is expected to make an immediate impact in the PWHL.

A proud Rochester native, Winn grew up playing with the Rochester Jr. Americans, known at the time as the Monarchs, where she laid the foundation for what has become an exceptional hockey journey.

“We couldn’t be more proud to see Haley take this next step in her career,” said a representative from the Jr. Amerks organization. “She’s a role model for young athletes in our program, and her success is a testament to years of hard work, determination, and love for the game.”

As she begins her professional career with the Boston Fleet, Haley Winn continues to make Rochester—and the Jr. Amerks community—proud.
