Jr. Amerks Open Rochester Ice Center’s New Third Rink

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The Rochester Jr. Americans were the first team to take the ice at Rochester Ice Center’s newly constructed third rink on September 2, 2025, marking a milestone for youth hockey in the region. The expansion transforms the game‑day and training experience with a modern video board, an on‑site restaurant, and seating for more than 1,000 spectators.

The additional sheet immediately expands weekday training capacity. Jr. Amerks teams will use the new rink for practices Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., then turn to competition with games played throughout the weekend across multiple age groups. Players and coaches will also benefit from new, team‑friendly locker rooms designed to streamline pre‑ and post‑game routines.

“The third rink is a tremendous boost for our program. The facility is outstanding, and it keeps our teams at their home rink more often instead of bouncing around other arenas across Greater Rochester. Our long‑standing partnership with Rochester Ice Center continues to grow the game locally and helps us field highly competitive teams,” said Mike Napieralski, Jr. Amerks Travel Director.

The third rink is purpose‑built to support the surge in participation and the growing slate of league games, showcases, and tournaments that Rochester hosts each year. Comfortable seating, improved sightlines, and enhanced in‑arena presentation via the video board elevate the atmosphere for players and spectators alike, while convenient food and beverage options at the on‑site restaurant keep teams and families close to the action.

Rochester Ice Center also serves as the Jr. Amerks’ home rink and training facility. Coaches can run video and classroom sessions on site between practices, and with Next Level Strength & Conditioning located in the building, players complete their off‑ice work under the same roof.

More than an expansion project, the new sheet advances the Jr. Amerks’ mission to grow the game in Greater Rochester—adding ice time that attracts new players to the program, deepens development for those already in it, and elevates the experience for families who spend their weekends at the rink. For a community that loves hockey, it’s an investment in the next generation and a home base our players can be proud of.
