16U AAA Open Season with Back-to-Back Wins

Our 16U AAA boys couldn’t have asked for a much better start to the 2026-27 season, opening the year with a pair of convincing victories in a home-and-home series against Syracuse.

Coming off a full week of training camp at Rochester Ice Center, the Jr. Amerks looked ready from the opening puck drop, earning a 5-1 victory on Saturday before completing the weekend sweep with a 4-2 win on Sunday.

In Saturday’s opener, Connor Williams led the offense with a goal and two assists, while Aidens Spakoski added two assists. Louie Ferrari contributed a goal and an assist as Rochester controlled the game on its way to the 5-1 victory.

Cole Hudson got the start in goal and turned in a strong performance to earn his first win of the season.

The Jr. Amerks carried that momentum into Sunday’s rematch, putting together another strong team effort and coming away with a 4-2 victory. Zach Fennell led Rochester offensively, while Connor Salvamoser earned his first win in a Jr. Amerks uniform between the pipes.

“I was really proud of the way the boys played this weekend,” said Head Coach Alex Economides. “We put in a lot of work during training camp, and it was great to see that carry over into our first two games. We’re off to a great start, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this group can do the rest of the season.”

Now 2-0, the 16U AAA boys will turn their attention to next weekend when they host a showcase at Rochester Ice Center. The Jr. Amerks open showcase play Friday against the Long Island Royals.
