Scott McDonald
After coaching the Jr. Amerks 2010 AAA/AA team for several seasons, Scott McDonald transitioned to the girls program and now serves as the Girls Hockey Director and College Hockey Advisor.
Scott brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the Jr. Amerks organization. From 2006 to 2018, he served as Head Coach of the RIT Women’s Hockey Team, compiling a 205-154-29 record over 12 seasons. He remains Division III’s all-time leader with a .835 winning percentage and holds the record for coaching victories at RIT.
A 2000 graduate of Niagara University, Scott played defense for the Purple Eagles from 1996 to 2000 as part of the program’s inaugural Division I class. In his senior year, he helped lead Niagara to an NCAA Tournament at-large bid and an undefeated season in College Hockey America, capturing both the regular season and tournament championships.
Scott recently completed his first season as Head Coach of the St. John Fisher University Women’s Hockey Team, which launched its inaugural season in 2025-26. In addition to his leadership roles within the Jr. Amerks organization, he will also serve as Head Coach of the Jr. Amerks 19U Girls Tier 1 team for the upcoming season.
As Girls Hockey Director and College Hockey Advisor, Scott is focused on developing female players and guiding them through the pathway from youth hockey to the collegiate level.
