Scott McDonald Named College Liaison for Jr. Amerks Girls Program
The Jr. Amerks Girls program has experienced remarkable growth over the past four years, and as the program has expanded so have the opportunities for our players. To ensure our girls have the support needed as they navigate the road between youth hockey and college recruiting, we are delighted to introduce Coach Scott McDonald as College Liaison for the Jr. Amerks Girls program.
Coach McDonald has vast knowledge of the college recruitment process in women’s hockey. Recently inducted into the RIT Sports Hall of Fame, his 12 years as head coach of RIT Women’s Hockey included a National Championship and he remains the program’s all-time victory leader. Coach McDonald is also no stranger to the Jr. Amerks organization, as this season marks his ninth as a head coach in our youth and girls programs. He’s currently head coach of the 14U Tier I Girls NTB team.
In his role as College Liaison, Coach McDonald will work with coaches and families in our Girls program to provide education and support around the college recruitment process. He’ll ensure teams are attending the right tournaments to maximize exposure for our players. He’ll facilitate relationships between college coaches and our players to support recruitment efforts when the time is right. Ultimately, Coach McDonald will empower our players and families with the information and connections needed to support our girls and their hockey dreams.
As the Jr. Amerks Girls program has expanded, so too have the aspirations of our players. We have a growing number of girls who want to explore collegiate hockey opportunities, and Coach McDonald will serve as a critical bridge between youth hockey and the college recruitment process.
Welcome, Scott! We’re excited for what’s to come for our Girls program.
