Rochester Jr. Americans Reach Robertson Cup Final Four in Just Their Second NAHL Season

In just their second season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the Rochester Jr. Americans cemented their status as a rising force in junior hockey by advancing to the Robertson Cup Final Four in Blaine, Minnesota. Under the guidance of Head Coach Francois Methot, who also serves as the organization’s Youth Hockey General Manager, the Jr. Amerks showcased talent, structure, and resilience throughout an unforgettable postseason run.

After eliminating the Maine Nordiques in a four-game division final—including a decisive blowout win in game three and an overtime victory to close the series in game four—Rochester advanced to face the league’s top-seeded Bismarck Bobcats in the semifinals. Bismarck, with a 47–10–2 regular-season record and an impressive +103 goal differential, entered the matchup as the favorite.

Game one of the semifinal series was a tightly contested battle. Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period thanks to stellar goaltending from Danick Leroux for Rochester and Tomas Anderson for Bismarck. Early in the second, Keanu Krenn gave the Bobcats a 1–0 lead, but Rochester quickly answered. Owen King—one of several Jr. Amerks youth alumni now contributing at the junior level—capitalized on a loose puck to even the score at 1–1.

The game would remain tied through regulation. Midway through the overtime session, Bismarck executed a crisp passing sequence that ended with a goal from captain Julian Beaumont, sealing a 2–1 win and a berth in the national championship game.

Despite the narrow loss, Rochester’s semifinal run was a major milestone for the young franchise. The team’s success reflects the strength of the organization’s development model and coaching leadership. Coach Francois Methot’s influence—spanning both the NAHL bench and the youth program—has helped foster a strong culture and development path for local talent.

Notably, the Jr. Amerks roster featured multiple players who came up through the organization’s youth system, including Owen King, Clay O’Donnell, Jackson Schouten, and goaltender Ethan Phillips. Their presence on the national stage is a testament to the organization’s commitment to long-term player development and its growing reputation as a destination for elite hockey.

With a strong foundation, a passionate community, and a proven coaching staff, the Rochester Jr. Americans are poised to remain contenders in the NAHL for years to come.
