As for determining the proper hand placement, most often, the dominant hand goes on top. For instance, if your child is right-handed, they'll shoot from the left side, and vice versa. However, it's important to note that some youngsters may opt for what feels natural to them, even if it means placing the dominant hand at the bottom.
