Alumni Alert: Kiara Zanon named to USA Hockey 2023 Collegiate Series Roster
USA Hockey announced the roster for the 2023 U.S. Collegiate Women’s Select Team . The teams are set to compete in a three-game series with Canada on August 16, 17 and 19 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Jr. Amerks alum, Kiara Zanon will be one of the 12 forwards playing for Team USA. She is currently a member of Ohio State University women’s hockey team.
The Fairport native is a two-time CHA Player of the Year and was named a Patty Kazmaier Top-10 Finalist last season. She finished the 2022-23 campaign with a team-high 49 points and 26 goals. She led the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and scored the team’s first NCAA Tournament goal in the first round against Quinnipiac. The 2020-21 AHCA National Rookie of the Year led the nation with five shorthanded goals in 2022-23 and was fifth in total goals scored.
A member of the 2022 U.S. Collegiate Select Team for the series vs. Canada, Zanon also played on the Team USA U18 team at the 2019 and 2020 IIHF World Championships. She helped the team to a gold medal finish in 2020, scoring the game-winning goal in the overtime win over Canada in the gold-medal game. Zanon and Team USA took silver in 2019. As a member of the U-18 Women’s Select Team, she also played at the 2018 and 2019 U18 Series vs. Canada.
