Austin Szczesniak joins the Jr. Amerks as head coach after three seasons leading the Rochester Coalition 2010 AA team. A Henrietta, NY native, he grew up playing for the Rochester Red Wings and Rochester Youth Hockey before starring for Rush-Henrietta High School, where he led his division in scoring as a junior. He then advanced to junior hockey, playing two seasons in the USPHL with the Rochester Jr. Americans and Rochester Jr. Monarchs.
Austin takes pride in mentoring players both on and off the ice, emphasizing hockey IQ and skill development to help them reach their goals.
A graduate of the University at Buffalo, he now works in corporate finance.
Season Overview:
- 40+ game schedule against high-end AA teams and lower AAA teams
- 3-5 tournaments
- High School Friendly Split Season
- 3-Day Training Camp in August at Rochester Ice Center
- Two team practices per week (Full and/or Shared)
- Two skills clinics by RIC Academy & NAHL Jr. Amerks per month
- Goaltender clinics by New Edge School of Goaltending throughout the season
- Bi-weekly Off-ice training with Next Level Strength and Conditioning with progress monitoring throughout the season
- Team building and community service events
