Coach Thering, a distinguished figure in the hockey community, has been at the forefront of the Pittsford Varsity Ice Hockey team since 2007. His tenure as head coach is marked by an impressive record, with over 250 victories, 7 sectional titles, and 5 appearances in the state final four. His leadership and strategic insights have not only brought success on the ice but also earned him multiple All Greater Rochester Coach of the Year awards, culminating in the prestigious New York State Coach of the Year honor in 2023.
In addition to his remarkable high school coaching career, Coach Thering has also been a vital part of the Jr. Amerks coaching staff for several years. His involvement with the Jr. Amerks has allowed him to extend his passion for developing young talent, contributing significantly to the organization's success and the growth of its players.
Residing in Fairport with his wife Karen and their three children, Olivia, Cameron, and Griffin, Coach Thering's commitment to hockey excellence continues to inspire athletes both in high school and within the Jr. Amerks organization. His legacy is not just in the wins and titles but in the lasting impact he has on his players, fostering both skill development and character growth.

Nick Rawden is an experienced hockey coach, known for his work with youth and high school teams. His passion for developing young talent has made him a trusted leader among players and families. Rawden previously led the Jr. Amerks 9U AA team and has contributed to the 8U program and the Webster Cyclones. Before focusing on youth hockey, he coached high school hockey in Syracuse, NY, from 2008 to 2010, making a significant impact by preparing players for higher levels. Rawden's ability to connect with and inspire young athletes continues to drive his success in coaching.

Long time assistant coach, Mark Pelligra is taking over from Jeff Dill as head coach. Mark, hailing from Webster, NY, has an extensive background in hockey, having played at Monroe Community College, SUNY Morrisville, and SUNY Brockport. With years of experience in coaching youth hockey, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the rink, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of players.

Empire house league teams
We will be offering several house teams for the upcoming season, competing in the local Empire Amateur Hockey Conference. Players are born between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2015 are combined in the 10U Squirt age group.
Player evaluations are set for March 2024 to determine team placements. The season kicks off in September, offering young players a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills and compete in a supportive and dynamic environment.
