Jr. Amerks Welcome New House Program Directors Krista Nolan and Jon Nixon
The Rochester Jr. Americans have named Krista Nolan and Jon Nixon the new Directors of the Jr. Amerks House Program. Krista and Jon are taking over for Lynn McClenin, who is stepping away after nine years of incredible service with the Jr. Amerks organization.
Lynn joined the Jr. Amerks board of directors in 2017, first managing our Try Hockey for Free Program. The following year she started her role as House Director, pouring so much of her time, energy and heart into fulfilling the Jr. Amerks’s mission to give every child a place to play hockey. She also represented the Jr. Amerks as president of the Empire Amateur Hockey Conference, shaping the broader youth hockey landscape in the region. Along the way, Lynn took ownership of the Jr. Amerks Rec Hockey Program, designed for Jr. Amerks players who are stepping on the ice for the first time.
The Jr. Amerks are truly grateful to Lynn and for the lasting impact of her contributions on the organization. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.
Krista and Jon bring a wealth of experience, both in hockey and with the Jr. Amerks organization, to their role as House Directors. Krista has coached Jr. Amerks teams for the past three years, and currently coaches a Jr. Amerks 12U House team. She grew up playing hockey with the Perinton Blades and the Rochester Edge before playing club hockey at SUNY Geneseo and even participating in the Empire State Games. She lives in Palmyra with her husband and two children: a 13-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son who plays in the Jr. Amerks House Program.
Jon has also been involved with the Jr. Amerks through coaching, and currently serves as head coach of a Jr. Amerks 14U House team. In addition, he has supported the annual Big Thaw Tournament over the years. Jon is an alum of the Jr. Amerks, having played for Perinton Youth Hockey as a child. After his playing days, Jon moved to officiating and was a referee throughout the Rochester area and later in Massachusetts. He and his wife have two children, ages 14 and 9, both of whom have developed a love for hockey.
Krista and Jon share a clear vision for the Jr. Amerks House Program, one focused on learning and loving the game of hockey, in which every player feels welcomed and supported while having fun on the ice. We’re excited for the future of our House Program.
