Jr. Amerks Congratulate François Méthot on Next Chapter

The Rochester Jr. Americans are proud to congratulate longtime Hockey General Manager François Méthot, who will be leaving the organization in September to become Head Coach of the Boston Fleet of the PWHL. François has served as the Jr. Amerks Hockey GM for the past 10 years, and his impact on our organization extends far beyond that title.

During his time with the Jr. Amerks, François coached several teams, including our 2003 and 2010 birth-year groups, and played an instrumental role in the creation and growth of our Girls Hockey program. He also served as Head Coach and General Manager of the Jr. Amerks NAHL team for all three seasons of its existence. The program gave many players who grew up wearing a Jr. Amerks jersey the opportunity to continue playing junior hockey in Rochester and compete at a high level in front of their hometown family and friends.

Perhaps François’ greatest impact has been on the way we develop players throughout the organization. He helped establish our current organization-wide development model, incorporating dedicated skills sessions and Next Level Strength & Conditioning workouts into teams’ regular weekly practice schedules.

As the lead instructor of the Rochester Ice Center Academy, François has also spent countless hours on the ice working directly with hundreds of Jr. Amerks players. His commitment to skill development has helped players at every age and level improve their game, with many going on to play junior, college and professional hockey. That includes Jr. Amerks alumna Haley Winn, who now plays for the Boston Fleet — a pretty special connection as François begins his next chapter.

For 10 years, François has been an important part of the growth and evolution of the Rochester Jr. Americans. The programs he helped build, the development model he helped establish and the players and coaches he influenced will remain part of his legacy within our organization. We are grateful for everything François has given to the Jr. Amerks and the Rochester hockey community, and we couldn’t be happier to see him earn this opportunity.
