15U Team Gives Back at Ronald McDonald House Rochester

Our 15U AA3 team recently traded their sticks and skates for an opportunity to give back to families in the Rochester community.

Players, parents and coaches from the team, led by Head Coach Tim Auerhahn and Team Manager Lorraine Gough, volunteered at Ronald McDonald House Rochester, helping with housekeeping projects and preparing a meal for families staying at the House. The day provided the players with an opportunity to work together away from the rink while supporting families going through challenging circumstances.

“Being part of a team is about more than what happens on the ice,” Auerhahn said. “It’s about coming together, helping others and understanding the importance of giving back to the community that supports us.”

Ronald McDonald House Rochester provides essential programs and services for families and children facing medical challenges, helping remove barriers and allowing families to remain close and supported throughout their child’s medical journey. Its programs include the Westmoreland House as well as Family Rooms and other family support services at area hospitals. Community volunteers play an important role in that mission, assisting with everything from maintaining the Westmoreland House to preparing meals and providing other forms of support for families.

For our players, the experience was also a reminder that the lessons learned through hockey — teamwork, responsibility and supporting others — extend well beyond the rink.

We would like to thank Ronald McDonald House Rochester for welcoming our players, coaches and families and giving them the opportunity to spend the day supporting the families they serve. We are proud of our players and families for representing the Jr. Amerks and making a positive difference in our community.
